Marina Sirtis to be Next Generation of Mossad on “NCIS”

marina sirtis ncis mossad leaderMarina Sirtis, best known as Counselor Deanna Troi to fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation, will be joining the cast of NCIS. Her role will be that of the new director of Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency featured on the show.

Sirtis will be playing Orli Elbaz, who becomes the new Mossad director after the recent death of Eli David (Michael Nouri). As the previous director was father of series regular Ziva (Cote de Pablo), who herself is a former member of Mossad, it is likely that these two characters will have some interesting interactions. However, no additional information about Sirtis’ character has been released, or anything about what will bring the character to the show.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg seems to be pleased with his newest recurring guest actor: “The search to replace Eli David as Mossad Director was tricky for us, but we ended up with a true find in Marina Sirtis. I’ve always been a Star Trek fan, but Marina really owns this part. And the cast loves her. She’s everything I wanted for the role and then some. We are lucky to have her,” Glasberg has been reported as saying. Her first appearance on the show will be in April.

NCIS is consistently television’s top currently running show, and has been renewed for an 11th season next year. Sirtis will be in very good company, as recurring guests over the years have included Ralph Waite, Robert Wagner, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Armand Assante. Personally, as a fan of both NCIS and Sirtis, I am looking forward to seeing her on the show, and particularly to her interactions with the regular characters.
